Da Nang

Da Nang is the 5th biggest city in Vietnam and is built right along the coastline it was only half an hour in a taxi from Hoi An so we decided to stay here. Upon arrival at the hotel it was clear our safe was broken so the plan to shot our stuff down and go straight to the beach was severely halted. We called down reception to get it sorted and spent our first hour in Da Nang sat waiting for the hotel technician to repair it. Great fun.

Anyway we eventually did get off down to the beach for a spot of sunbathing and a swim in the sea.

After this we set off for our first night out in Da Nang we went to a food court got some cheap food then headed off to Sky 36 a rooftop bar highly ranked on trip advisor. When we got up there was a good atmosphere but then we sat down to look at the menu….

The cheapest drinks package was 6 Corona for 1,290,000 VND (ยฃ42). Then the bill came with service charge and VAT basically took it up to ยฃ50 we were sick as fuck ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚. It was an okay rooftop bar I suppose but I have been to loads in Asia and these prices took the piss, they even take the piss in comparison to The Shard in London at least they let you have one drink and piss off. Thought I was in Ocean Beach Club but at least ya know what your signing up for in Ibiza. Once 9 O clock hit the DJ came on and actually banged worse music on ๐Ÿ˜‚ proper hard EDM heavy shit again ๐Ÿ˜‚ Just can’t escape it. They just can’t resist putting a fucking donk on every song. Abit if Adele? Put a Donk on it. BRUNO MARS? PUT A DONK ON Him. A little bit of BOYZONE??? DONK EM UP!!!

They even brought an MC out screeching like a car on the micย ๐Ÿ˜‚ย have a look at this….

Anyway had a good few hours in there. To be honest at normal prices I would have easily done 12 Corona in the same amount of time. But these had to be savoured. One Corona an hour it worked out ๐Ÿ˜‚ After the 13p fresh beers the Ale God’s have definitely took a dislike to me enjoying myself too much and punished me. After that I was intent on going to anywhere cheap.

DAY 2

The 2nd day in Da Nang we went and got some dinner at a place called Tamarind Tree (I ordered fried spring rolls and they brought fresh spring rolls, after the last few days I just took this one on the chin ๐Ÿ˜‚) then went for a stroll along the beach๐Ÿ–

That night we headed out early to catch the sunset at another rooftop bar. Now this rooftop bar called Sky 21 was ranked 1 on trip advisor and I done plenty of research and made sure we got there for happy hour ๐Ÿ˜‚. Need to recoup the money squandered from the night before. This bar was actually much better and had a full sea view unfortunately the sky wasn’t the best for a sunset but the bar couldn’t be faulted on any level. The best in Da Nang.

To top it off they had a happy hour which we ordered double drinks 5 minutes before it finished. After that it was lady’s night so Kayleigh got a nice cocktail on the house. I have never seen her happier, couldn’t take the smile off her face when the waiter came over and said special menu for ladies what would you like. Me on the other hand was livid. WHEN’S MAN’S NIGHT LIKE? SEXIST PIGS ๐Ÿฝ. We don’t know how lucky we are in England having equal rights between men and women ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

After this we went and got an Indian from the family Indian which was very good. Madras, cheese garlic naaan, and pilau rice.

Then we went to a cocktail bar called Wanderlust. It’s just a backstreet bar but has good singers and actually probably was the best bar we had been to. The singer was class and cocktails are probably the best so far on the whole trip. The beer was also back to 20 VND (60 odd pence). Here is a little clip of the singer they had on live, she was pretty good…

After this we found a nearby reggae bar on trip advisor very highly ranked so set off on our journey. When we got to the end of the street we found it wasn’t there I was sent running up and down both sides to check. Turns out this unlit dark place that was shut was the bar we had been looking for ๐Ÿ˜‚. Luckily a busy bar was next door so we just bouled in there for a few swifties. We said to the bar woman what time do you shut she said about 4am so we were settled for the night.

It’s now the next morning and Kayleigh has been throwing up ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

Just a quiet one today as we are flying 7am so need to be up and out the hotel about 4am ๐Ÿ˜ can’t wait.

Next step we are flying into Hanoi and then going to Ninh Binh for 2 nights. Couldn’t be arsed with a sleeper train all take about 15 hours and they only had hard seats available. The trains here go about the same speed as a tractor at home. Think someone needs to have a look at that.
